I can't imagine how you'd use it to mix and produce a full album though unless you do everything literally out of the box and simply use SF to record the final wave. It's best used alongside a typical DAW since most DAW's have pretty poor wav editing capabilities. It is NOT a multi-track daw and really can't be used as one in the typical sense, though it does allow the input of up to 32 channels. It excels for things like up close and personal sample accurate editing, batch conversion of files (particularly useful for guys in post), creating red book masters, etc. It's best when used for working with single audio files that need to be edited, chopped, or otherwise modified in non-real time. However, It's not really comparable to a modern DAW because it doesn't function the same way.

I really like Sound Forge, and it's a very powerful piece of software, though its interface is pretty dated by modern standards.

I run it along side Reaper in a dual monitor setup, and using a quick keyboard shortcut can load any file straight from reaper into SF, save in SF, and have it reappear in reaper edited. I use sound forge for dedicated wave editing (SFX/Post stuff and occasional music sample duties).
